A naifa (Portuguese slang for "knife"; also A / Naifa ) is a Portuguese avant Fado - Pop band.
history
After the newly awakened interest in fado , and particularly on died in 2004, master of the Portuguese guitar , Carlos Paredes , the group founded the same year. Its members came from various bands, such as Luís Varatojo from the punk band Peste & Sida , or João Aguardela from the folk rock / pop band Sitiados . The forerunner was the Linha da Frente project , which was founded in 1999 on the 25th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution to set poets critical of Salazar to music, thereby approaching Portuguese musical traditions with the help of innovative pop music. Linha da Frente existed u. a. from Varatojo, Aguardela, the singer Viviane and the Kussondulola singer Janelo da Costa, and released an album in 2002.
A Naifa rarely played on stages as large as in 2008 at the world music festival FMM . Their mixture of sounds borrowed from trip-hop and sophisticated pop music and the solemn songs of fado in its wistful, saudade- lingering variants, did not appeal to a large audience. Her style attracted some attention in the country's music scene. Her second album 3 Minutos Antes De A Maré Encher (German: three minutes before the tide comes) briefly hit the Portuguese sales charts in 2006.
After the death of co-founder João Aguardela in 2009, the band rested before re-forming in 2010 and releasing a new album in 2012. They dedicated Aguardela to Não se deitam comigo corações obedientes (English: I don't go to bed with an obedient heart). New to the band were former Censurados drummer Samuel Palitos , and bassist Sandra Baptista , who played the accordion in Aguardela's previous band, Situados, and was his partner. Before that, Esta Depressão Que Me Anima ( Eng : This Depression That Cheers Me Up ) was a collection of texts about the group’s development, with which the band announced in 2010 that they would resume their activities. The decision to continue running the band was made by the musicians at a memorial concert for Aguardela in the Centro Cultural de Belém .
