The Aabach is a (with Goldingerbach) 13.9 kilometer long tributary of Lake Zurich (Obersee) in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland . It arises from the union of the Goldingerbach with the Ranzach in a wooded ravine near Uznaberg in the municipality of Uznach . From the exit of the Aabach from the ravine at the hamlet of Brugg to the mouth at Schmerikon , the Aabach has been canalized since the 1930s. In the Aatal and Uznaberg, the water of the Aabach was used until recently to generate electricity by the textile industry .
