Aaron Korsh (2013)

Aaron Thomas Korsh (born November 7, 1966 in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania ) is an American screenwriter and television producer who developed the television series Suits .

Life

Korsh was born and raised near Philadelphia in 1966 . His brother, Eric Korsh, was executive producer on several television series. Aaron Korsh attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania , where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in economics. He then worked on Wall Street for about five years in the late 1980s and early 1990s , the work was financially profitable as hoped, but unsatisfactory for him. When Korsh learned that two of his college friends had become successful screenwriters, he too set out to become a screenwriter.

To gain a foothold in the industry, Korsh moved to Santa Monica in 1998 , applied for several television series, and was hired as a production assistant on the sitcom Everyone Loves Raymond that same year . He later offered to work there as an unpaid assistant to the authors. He was able to gain his first experience in the writer's room and pitch his first script for the 116th episode of the series, which was then jointly revised, filmed and broadcast on CBS in 2001 . This was followed by another position as an assistant author in the comedy series Just Shoot Me from 2002 to 2003 . For this series he wrote another script on his own. After writing a freelance script for the sitcom Love Inc. , in 2007, Korsh became a permanent writer of the sitcom Pretty Pregnant . In 2010, Korsh wrote the first time as a regular author for a drama series, for ABC's The Deep End , which was discontinued after six episodes.

At the end of the scriptwriters' strike in 2007 , Korsh developed his own series based on his experiences on Wall Street . This should initially have a half-hour format. The series was sold to USA Network with a revised concept, now an hour long and as a lawyer series . While the project was still entitled A Legal Mind in the development phase , the series that aired from June 2011 was ultimately named Suits . Critic reactions to the series have been largely positive. Korsh has been the creator, screenwriter and executive producer of the series since the first season . By the end of the first season, Aaron Korsh also became showrunner on the series after completing the Writers Guild of America's Showrunner Training Program . In the first season, Sean Jablonski was showrunner, as Korsh had no previous production experience. The first season of the series was one of the most successful formats on the USA Network with an average of 6.31 million viewers. A total of 134 episodes of the series were produced in nine seasons from 2011 to 2019. In 2019, Korsh created a spin-off series with Pearson , which, however, could not follow the success of Suits and was canceled after a season.

Korsh has lived in Santa Monica , Los Angeles , since 1998 , is married with two children.
