Aartal Cycle Path (Taunus)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Aartalradweg is a 42 km long cycle and hiking path in the lower and middle Taunus , which runs almost entirely on the edge of the floodplain of the Aar creek and has a height difference of 291 m.

It leads from Diez an der Lahn (connection to the Lahntal cycle path ) via Hahnstätten , Aarbergen , Bad Schwalbach to Taunusstein- Hahn. The southernmost section was only opened in 2005 and is still heavily criticized today, as it leads up and down in large sections, such as at Burg-Hohenstein and Adolfseck . The section between the Hessian towns or districts Aarbergen-Michelbach and Heidenrod-Laufenselden is completely missing, because the Rhineland-Palatinate municipality of Reckenroth was not prepared to give up a farm road in its district due to the criticism of its hunting tenant . The hunting tenant had threatened to cut the hunting lease.

The Aarstraße , the Aartalbahn and the Aar-Höhenweg hiking trail run parallel to the Aartalradweg .

connections

bicycle

In Diez, the Aartalradweg connects to the Lahntalradweg . The Loreley-Aar Cycle Path begins in Hahnstätten , which runs in the vicinity of the former Hahnstätten - St. Goarshausen railway line of the Nassau Kleinbahn and from Miehlen leads directly on the old embankment to St. Goarshausen am Rhein.

train

On the edge of the center of Diez is the train station, which is served by the regional train and the regional express of the Lahntalbahn . The Aartalbahn is to be put back into operation between Limburg and Zollhaus (behind Hahnstätten). An extension to Wiesbaden is still under discussion.
