Starting point of the Loreley-Aar cycle path in St. Goarshausen

The Loreley-Aar-Rad- und Wanderweg is a 41 km long cycle and hiking path in the Rhein-Lahn district , which connects the Rhine and Aartal valleys and has a height difference of 350 m. Most of the trail runs away from the roads and is suitable for experienced cyclists due to the large differences in altitude. It has officially been around since 2004.

Former railway line near St. Goarshausen

The starting point is the train station in St. Goarshausen. At the end of the village in the direction of Nastätten, follow the B 274 for a short time, from which the cycle path on the right meets the old route of the Nassau small railway . The cycle path follows the route to Bogel for 8.5 km. From Bogel it goes almost 5.5 km downhill to Miehlen and 6 km uphill again to Bettendorf. After a short descent, it goes steeply uphill to Rettert. From there it goes downhill to Katzenelnbogen. After a short ascent, the descent goes to Zollhaus / Hahnstätten.
