It rises under the name Ruisseau de Pleuraires in the south-western municipality of La Verdière , initially drains in a west-northwest direction through the Verdon Regional Nature Park , suddenly swings north of Rians to north to northwest and flows around 21 kilometers into the municipality of Saint-Paul-lès-Durance as a left tributary into the Durance . Shortly before the mouth of the Abéou crosses the A51 , and a parallel to the Durance channel , of a series of water power plants the EDF supplied with water. On its way, the river crosses the Var and Bouches-du-Rhône departments .
