A demolition house (also known as a demolition house or scrap property ) is a house or building that is either intended to be demolished or demolished or is currently being demolished.

The reasons for demolishing buildings can be very different. The most important are the unusability , non-rentability or unusability due to fire or other building damage ( storm , flood , dilapidation , infestation of the timber by pests, etc.), the so-called gutting of residential areas , industrial or commercial areas , aging , new development of land or also price changes and speculation in the real estate market .

Demolished houses have been and are sometimes occupied by squatters who use them in the form of so-called “ repairs ” for residential purposes and for cultural projects. Furthermore, demolition houses are occasionally used by aid organizations such as the fire brigade or THW for exercise purposes.

The demolition is done either by hand with pick and shovel or machine with hydraulic hammer , concrete crusher or wrecking ball , or by blasting . Which procedures are used depends primarily on the size and location of the building, the time frame and the client's financial capabilities. The recyclable materials are either reused as demolition stones or recycling material, recycled or disposed of in accordance with regulations.
