Abdelali Daraa
Abdelali Daraa ( Arabic عبد العالي درعة, DMG ʿAbd al-ʿĀlī Darʿa ; * April 25, 1990 in Casablanca ) is a Moroccan amateur boxer and Olympic participant from 2012. He boxes in the light fly and fly weight. He has been boxing for the Atlas Lions in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) since 2016 .
Boxing career
Daraa won a bronze medal at the Arab Championships in Qatar and a silver medal at the African Championships in Cameroon in 2011 . He then started at the 2011 World Championships in Azerbaijan , defeated Denis Kosaruk, Ukraine (16: 7) in the preliminary round, but failed in the second fight against Salman Əlizadə , Azerbaijan (12:16).
In 2012 he reached second place in the African Olympic qualification in Morocco and was thus allowed to take part in the 2012 Olympic Games in London , where he was eliminated in the first fight against Thomas Essomba , Cameroon (10:13). At 22 years and 98 days, he was also the youngest Moroccan participant in these games. In 2013 he won a bronze medal at the Mediterranean Games in Turkey after losing to Vincenzo Picardi , Italy (0-3) in the semi-final .
In 2014 he won the silver medal at the World Military Championships in Kazakhstan . After victories against Hyok Han-Chol, North Korea (13:10), Julião Neto , Brazil (3: 0), and Fang Bo, China (2: 1), he was only defeated in the final against Olschas Sattibajew (0: 3), Kazakhstan.
In 2015 he won a bronze medal at the World Military Games in South Korea . After victories against Masud Jusifsade, Azerbaijan (2: 1) and Ronny Beblik, Germany (2: 1), he was eliminated in the semifinals against Karen Arutjunjan, Russia (0: 3). He finished the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games with a silver medal and started at the 2017 African Championships in the Republic of the Congo , where he was only eliminated just 3-2 in the quarter-finals against Sankuru Nkolomoni, DR Congo. He qualified for the 2017 World Championships in Germany , where he lost in the first fight against Niall Farrell .
