Abdou Harouna

Abdou Laouali Harouna (* 1968 in Maradi ) is a Nigerien manager and politician .

Life

Abdou Harouna attended elementary and middle school in his native Maradi. He was general secretary and president of the student councils at the Lycée Dan Baskoré in Maradi and at the Lycée Kassaï in Niamey . He worked as a member of the stewardship of the Presidium of the 1991 National Conference. At the Kaduna Polytechnic in neighboring Nigeria studied Harouna English, followed by studies at the Federal University of Technology Minna in Nigeria, which he described as 1997 agricultural engineer with a focus on water and forestry graduated. He worked as the general secretary of Nigerian students in Nigeria.

After doing voluntary service, Abdou Harouna moved to the United States . From 2000 to 2004 he worked for the fluid technology company Flowserve in Lynchburg , Virginia , most recently as Logistics and Administrative Director. He received a Masters of Business Administration from Averett University in Virginia in 2004 . He then worked until 2007 as a manager for the aviation division of Eaton Corporation . During this time he earned additional degrees from the University of Michigan and Harvard . He was also Vice President of the Association of Nigerians in the United States.

Harouna then worked as director for purchasing and logistics for various companies: from 2007 for the telecommunications company Celtel in the Democratic Republic of the Congo , from 2008 for the telecommunications company Zain in Manama in Bahrain and from 2009 for the energy company Areva in Niger. He was awarded the title of Sarkin Yaki of the Sultanate of Maradi in 2012 . The Sarkin Yaki is the Sultan's "defense minister". Abdou Harouna's grandfather had already been a dignitary at the court in Maradi.

Harouna was politically active in the Nigerien Party for Democracy and Socialism and was considered the most influential figure in the Maradi party section, even if he initially only served as the second vice president. Like Ibrahim Yacouba , he belonged to a generation of “rich intellectuals” who shaped city life. In the parliamentary elections on February 21, 2016 , Abdou Harouna was elected as a member of the National Assembly for Maradi . On November 3, 2016, the Nigerien government appointed him under his party comrade President Mahamadou Issoufou as General Director of the newly founded telecommunications company Niger Telecom .

Abdou Harouna is married and has five children.
