Adventure on Shepherd's Island is a British-Canadian feature film directed by Rodney Gibbons and released in 2003. The script for this was written by Sharon Buckingham and Harry Alan Towers . James Cromwell plays one of the main roles, an old hostile, bitter shepherd who is led to admit injustice by his 13-year-old grandson.
action
After his parents' fatal car accident in America, David is sent to the British Isle of Man to see his grandfather Adam McAdam, who is reluctant to take him in. Having quarreled with all of his neighbors, the old shepherd is only friends with his Border Collie Zac. David befriends Maggie, the same age girl next door. But grandfather McAdam forbids him to interact with Maggie's father, Keith Moore, because there is a particularly long-standing feud. The sheep farmers in the area suspect Zac of killing their sheep, which McAdam defends against. He often discovers traces of blood on Zac's dog's snout himself after his forays, but he just doesn't want to admit his dog's offenses.
When another dead lamb is discovered in the pasture by the shepherds of the village, Owd Bob, the herding dog of the moors, is in the process of sniffing the carcass and is therefore mistaken for the culprit. But David knows better. From a lookout tower he saw that Zac was killing the animal. The teenager protects Bob and saves him from being shot. Then he looks his grandfather, who had joined the men, in the eyes for a long time and expects a confession. It takes McAdam to present his dog Zac as the real villain. Then he shoots Zac and so the killing is finally over.
