Abhorrent was a Brazilian death , thrash metal and groove metal band from Brasília that was formed in 1988 and disbanded around 2007.

history

The band was formed in January 1988, but it fell apart shortly after the release of the demo Horrible Slaughter . However, the band soon found their way back together and now consisted of the singer Robson Aldeoli, the guitarist Fabrício Moraes, the bassist Leandro Soares and the drummer Gabriel Teykal. With this line-up, the band recorded the song Blood on Your Lips in 1991 . The following year the group could be heard on the sampler Brazil Alternativo 6 . With guitarist Marcus Vireoli as bassist, the band recorded their first album in 1994. Shortly thereafter, bassist Leandro Soares was added and the recorded songs were released three years later as an album under the name Rage in 1996. The album was also released on a tour of Great Britain that began in Rugeley , Staffordshire . Another demo was released a little later, Live in Rage , which includes a cover version of Slayers Reign in Blood . In 1998, Hudson André joined as guitarist and drummer Fabrício Cinelli was replaced by 18-year-old Carlos Fibrian. Guitarist Hudson André, drummer Carlos Fibrian and guitarist Marcos Vireoli were seriously injured in a car accident on the way to a Metallica concert in São Paulo . After the members recovered, they contributed covers of Sepultura's Clenched Fist and Megadeth's She-Wolf for a Dwell Records tribute album in 1999 . In 2001 the line-up that created the album Caution! Strong Irritant recorded, from guitarists Marcus Vireoli and Hudson André, bassist Leandro Soares and drummer Carlos Fibrian. In 2004 it consisted of the singer Robson Aldeoli, the guitarist Fabrício Moraes, the bassist Leandro Soares and the drummer Gabriel Teykal. Together they recorded their next album, which should be released under the name Blasting on Zenor Records . After changing the line-up, however, Fabricio Moraes left the group and was replaced by Ricardo Thomaz. The post of the other guitar was taken over by bassist Leandro Soares. In 2007 the EP Catharsys was released. Then the band broke up.

style

Joel McIver assigned the band to Thrash and Death Metal in his book Extreme Metal II . Even Garry Sharpe-Young described the music in his book The AZ of thrash metal than thrash metal-influenced death metal. classicthrash found it difficult to briefly summarize the music on Rage . Overall, it sounds very fast and agile on this, although there are similarities to the compatriots of Restless . Abhorrent might sound a little less dry on the album. You can hear the enthusiasm of the group, but with a few exceptions, the recordings are ordinary standard Thrash Metal. thethrashmetalguide.com stated that the debut album is Thrash Metal, as it is usually heard in groups from the San Francisco Bay Area , with the vocals somewhat reminiscent of Max Cavalera 's. The music is fast and aggressive and reminds of the album Eternal Nightmare by Vio-lence . The second album, however, has little in common with its predecessor and offers modern, groove- oriented post-thrash metal .
