Abra de San Miguel is a town in the Tarija Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Abra de San Miguel is one of four localities in the canton of Chaguaya in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Padcaya in the province of Aniceto Arce . The village is located at an altitude of 2061 m a few kilometers east of the Río Camacho , which flows further below the town of Valle de Concepción (formerly: Uriondo ) and flows into the Río Rochero .

Abra de San Miguel is conveniently located between the different climate zones of the country on the edge of the eastern Andes mountain range at the transition to the Bolivian lowlands, so that mostly mild and pleasant weather prevails. In the summer months there are frequent thunderstorms like torrentials, the rest of the year has very little precipitation.
The mean average temperature of the region is 19 ° C (see climate diagram Tarija), the monthly average temperatures fluctuate between 14 ° C in June and July and 22 ° C in December to March. The annual precipitation is about 550 mm, with a pronounced dry season from April to October with monthly precipitation between 0 and 30 mm, and a humidity period from December to February with monthly precipitation of about 120 mm.
Transport network
Abra de San Miguel is 59 kilometers by road south of Tarija , the capital of the department.
From the Tarija, the paved road Ruta 1 leads southeast towards the cities of Padcaya and Bermejo . After seventeen kilometers from the main road, the asphalted route 45 branches off to the west, after five kilometers it crosses the valley of the Río Guadalquivir and after three kilometers it reaches the village of Valle de Concepción . From there the Ruta 45 leads as a dirt road in a south-westerly direction and reaches the village of Chaguaya after 30 kilometers via Chocloca and Juntas . From there it is another four kilometers in a south-easterly direction on asphalt road to Abra de San Miguel and another twelve kilometers to Padcaya.
