Aniceto Arce (or short: Arce ) is a province in the southern part of the Tarija Department in the South American Andes -State Bolivia . The province is named after Aniceto Arce Ruiz (1824–1906), the Bolivian President from 1888 to 1892.

location

The province of Aniceto Arce is one of six provinces in the Tarija department. It lies between 21 ° 45 'and 22 ° 53' south latitude and between 64 ° 06 'and 65 ° 02' west longitude .

It borders in the north with the province of Cercado and the province of José María Avilés , in the west and southeast with the Republic of Argentina , in the east with the province Gran Chaco , and in the northeast with the province Burnet O'Connor .

The province extends over a length of 140 kilometers in north-south direction and over 100 kilometers in east-west direction.

population

The population of the province of Aniceto Arce has increased by about a fifth in the past two decades, but stagnated in the last of the two decades:

80.7 percent of the population speak Spanish , 8.6 percent Quechua , 1.0 percent Aymara , and 0.2 percent Guaraní .

55.4 percent of the population have no access to electricity , 51.4 percent live without sanitary facilities ( 1992 ).

42.1 percent of the workforce work in agriculture , 0.1 percent in mining , 10.2 percent in industry , 47.6 percent in the service sector ( 2001 ).

87.4 percent of the population are Catholic , 8.9 percent are Protestant ( 1992 ).
