Abraham Sulzbach (born September 10, 1838 in Hamburg , † July 2, 1925 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German Hebraist and Judaist .

Life

Abraham Sulzbach was born in Hamburg . His studies in the field of the science of Judaism began for Sulzbach in his native Hamburg with Grand Rabbi Ansel Stern and continued with Rabbi Seligmann Bär Bamberger in Würzburg . In Berlin , Sulzbach was enrolled as a student at the Humboldt University in Berlin , where he studied sculpture with Max Landsberg (sculptor) .

After his successful studies, Abraham Sulzbach became a teacher and worked for decades at the Israelitische Realschule in Frankfurt am Main , which was founded by Samson Raphael Hirsch . Abraham Sulzbach wrote several books and writings on the Jewish religion , including on Kohelet , Jewish poetry , and a siddur for the Purim festival . Sulzbach also published a work on the ethics of Judaism . In addition, Sulzbach translates numerous Hebrew works into German .
