Abraham Teerlink (born November 5, 1776 in Dordrecht , † May 26 or July 1857 in Rome ) was a Dutch painter and draftsman.

Abraham Teerlink Junior was of civil descent, his parents being Abraham Teerlink Senior and Johanna Smits. When his artistic talent became apparent, the Dutch painter Michiel Versteegh accepted him as his pupil, later J. Kelderman and Arie Lamme became his teachers. Teerlink began with copies of famous masters, but then developed into a landscape painter, often integrating agricultural scenes into the pure landscape representation.

In 1807 he was one of three young painters in the Kingdom of Holland to be awarded the Prix de Rome . Thereupon King Louis Napoleon became aware of him, who granted Teerlink a scholarship so that he could perfect his education in Paris and Rome . Enthusiastic about his first experience abroad, he never wanted to return.

Teerlink spent a year and a half in Paris, where he copied paintings in the Louvre under the guidance of Jacques-Louis David . He also wrote a number of poems there. In 1809 he received orders in Rome, the stay there lasted longer than originally planned, until he decided a year later to settle there permanently. In 1836 Teerlink married the Italian Anna Muschi. In Rome he received an art professorship .

Teerlink kept his resolution never to return to the Netherlands, but took part in exhibitions there with works, with which he found great recognition. In 1839 King Wilhelm I of the Netherlands made him Knight of the Order of the Dutch Lion . He became a member of the Koninklijke Akademie van Beeldende Kunsten (Royal Academy of Fine Arts) in Amsterdam, as well as several Italian academies.
