Acetyl-α-methylfentanyl (also: acetyl-alpha-methylfentanyl) is a synthetic opioid - analgesic and an analogue to fentanyl or α-methylfentanyl .

presentation

Acetyl-α-methylfentanyl is synthesized in the same way as α-methylfentanyl, but using the comparatively easily available acetic anhydride instead of propionic anhydride .

Effects

Acetyl-α-methylfentanyl has similar effects and side effects as fentanyl . It works about ten times as strong as morphine . Acetyl-α-methylfentanyl is therefore illegally consumed as an opioid , analogous to fentanyl . Use for intoxication was first reported in California in 1984.

Legal status

Acetyl-α-methylfentanyl was briefly sold on the black market in the US in the early 1980s until it was placed on the controlled substances list by the Federal Analogue Act of 1986. With this law, an attempt was made for the first time to legally regulate entire families of active ingredients based on their chemical similarity, instead of each active ingredient individually as was previously the case.

Acetyl-α-methylfentanyl is listed in Germany in Appendix I to the Narcotics Act as a non-marketable narcotic and must not be prescribed.
