Achim Moeller

Achim Moeller (born March 22, 1946 in Neviges ) is a German political, image and election campaign advisor, management coach and author.

Life and work

Achim Moeller comes from Velbert- Neviges , a town near Wuppertal , where he was parliamentary group leader of the SPD for several years . He studied at the Ruhr University Bochum and is a graduate social scientist. For about 25 years he has been advising, conducting and organizing election campaigns. He has been active in politics for around 50 years. During his long deliberations, he took over the leadership of politicians who ran for candidates at all political levels. Achim Moeller managed the campaigns of various politicians from the municipal level, through state and federal election campaigns to European election campaigns. Achim Moeller is also a professional trainer at the SPD party school in the Willy-Brandt-Haus and has been the publisher of the WEKA publishing house's information service “Mayor News” for years. Furthermore, within the framework of the leadership and municipal academy of the Federal SPD, he trains budding top politicians who are to be prepared for their upcoming mandates, party offices and election campaigns in these party-internal institutions. In addition, Moeller developed an approach for the further development and professionalization of local politicians for the Bertelsmann Foundation.

Advice on election campaigns in Germany and international consultancy

He is the founder and owner of the agency TheLeaderShip , whose headquarters are in Wiesbaden. In the course of his career he has advised 650 candidates and 450 parliamentary groups, whom he has led to various political offices through his months of deliberations. With his agency, he is one of the pioneers who introduced modern election campaign coaching in Germany and transferred it to the regional and municipal levels. Achim Moeller worked abroad as a government advisor for several years. Moeller has lived abroad for almost 20 years and has campaigned for the goal of countering existing resistance and building democratic structures in the various countries. The focus of his activities abroad was the strengthening of education as the basis for sustainable social development, which is why Moeller was appointed as governor by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation during this time. The stations of his political consultancy included the following countries:

  • 1978 to 1983: Government advisor in Cairo
  • 1983 to 1989: Government advisor in Athens
  • 1989 to 1992: Government advisor in Brussels
  • 1992 to 1993: Head of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation for projects in Portugal, Spain, Greece and Turkey.
  • 1994 to 1997: Government advisor in Warsaw
  • Since 1999: International activities in Ramallah , Amman , Jerusalem , Vern for the Swiss Development Aid Ministry and UN organizations (UNDP, UNRWA)

Achim Moeller was entrusted with organizational consulting projects for the UNDP , UNRWA , SDC in Palestine, Jordan, Jerusalem, Romania, Albania and South Africa. During his time in Egypt, he founded Workers University in Cairo - the largest educational institution for working people in Africa. From 1998 to 2008 Achim Moeller was the state manager of SGK Hessen . He is also the founder of the Academy for Local Politics and was in charge of it from 1998 to 2008. Moeller is currently working with partners from Austria and Poland to found the “ European Institute for Elections and Democracy ”, the aim of which is to strengthen the importance and image of elections as a constituent element of democracy. The foundation date is set for the summer of 2012.

In March 2012 he co-founded the first nationwide mayors' congress that took place in Würzburg. Together with the Alfred Toepfer Foundation , Moeller and the employees of his agency TheLeaderShip introduced the European LIFE Academy , which endeavors to promote European unity while preserving cultural diversity and understanding between the peoples of Europe.

Communal academy: In 2001 Achim Moeller and Klaus Tovar designed and founded a communal academy for the Federal SPD and the Federal SGK, the idea and goal of which is to help young people get started in local politics and to train them in their know-how . In the meantime, this municipal academy has promoted numerous careers. The model, a combination of communicating local specialist topics and personal coaching, has been adopted in almost all federal states and by all major political parties.

Leadership academy: Achim Moeller came up with the idea of ​​a leadership academy for the SPD with the agency TheLeaderShip . The SPD was the first party in Germany to introduce a leadership academy. Top politicians are prepared and trained for their upcoming mandates, party offices and election campaigns in these internal party institutions. The courses, tailored to the individual, run over 2 years. The fourth course is currently running in 2012.
