The sculpture in the Ketschauer Hof shows three houses that are held together; she reminds that Niederberger, with the acquisition of the three wineries Dr. Deinhard , Reichsrat von Buhl and Privy Councilor Dr. von Bassermann-Jordan reversed the so-called Jordan division in a certain sense.

Achim Niederberger (born January 31, 1957 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ; † July 25, 2013 there ) was a German entrepreneur and the owner of the largest private vineyard in Germany with a total vineyard area of 150 hectares.

Life

After graduating from commercial school, Niederberger began training as a retail salesman in 1976 and two years later founded "Fortuna Sportwerbung GmbH" in Neustadt. In the course of his entrepreneurial activity, further company foundations followed: In 1988 the Nino Druck GmbH was founded, in 1996 the "Mobil Sport- and Public Advertising" was founded and in 2003 Niederberger acquired the "Umschau Verlag", which specializes in books on the subject of enjoyment.

Since 2002 Niederberger has also been involved in the wine business and bought the Privy Council Dr. from Bassermann-Jordan in Deidesheim . As part of the renovation work, he had the Bassermannsche Gutshaus converted into a boutique hotel and opened the “Bistro 1718” and the “LA Jordan” restaurant, which has been awarded a Michelin star since 2010 , in the renovated “ Ketschauer Hof ” property . The “Deidesheimer Kochschule” also belongs to the property.

In 2005 Niederberger acquired the Deidesheimer winery "Reichsrat von Buhl" , which was leased to a Japanese group until December 2013. At the beginning of 2014, the conversion and renovation work on the historic Buhlschen manor house began.

In 2007 Niederberger bought the “Dr. Deinhard "and had it renamed" Weingut von Winning ", the name" Dr. Deinhard ”is still used for the product line of wines matured in stainless steel tanks. The estate restaurant "Leopold" in the former horse stable belongs to the winery.

With the purchase of the Dr. Deinhard acquired Niederberger's third company in Deidesheim, which originally came from the Jordan property. In doing so, he had reversed the so-called “ Jordanian inheritance ” after more than 150 years and united the three wineries “Privy Councilor Dr. von Bassermann-Jordan ”,“ Reichsrat von Buhl ”and“ von Winning ”, formerly“ Dr. Deinhard ”, again in one hand.

Niederberger's involvement in Deidesheim also included the construction of the “Kaisergarten” hotel, which opened in May 2013. The restaurant "Riva" belongs to the hotel.

Today all companies and businesses are grouped under the umbrella of the Niederberger Group, which is managed by Niederberger's widow Jana Seeger.

Niederberger was buried in the Deidesheim cemetery in the grave of the Buhl family, whose winery he had bought.

In 2014 Niederberger was posthumously honored with an “Award of Excellence” by the magazine Der Feinschmecker .
