Ahmed Schijabudinowitsch Gadschimagomedow ( Russian Ахмед Шиявдинович Гаджимагомедов , Avar АхІмад Шиявдинил ХІажимухІамадов * 21 April 1990 in Khasavyurt , Dagestan ) is a Russian wrestler Avar origin. In 2018 he became European champion in free style in the weight class up to 79 kg body weight.
Career
Akhmed Gadschimatgomedow started wrestling as a teenager in 2000. The athlete who is now 1.74 meters tall and weighs around 80 kg concentrated on free style. He belongs to the sports club Uor Dagestan Khassavyurt . His trainers were or are Gamsat Abbasow and Magomed Gusinow.
It was not until 2011 that he entered the extended circle of the Russian national team of freestyle wrestlers, at the age of "already" 21, which is unusual. In his first appearance, the "Ali-Aliyev" tournament in Kaspiisk in May 2011, however, he disappointed and only came 28th in the weight class up to 74 kg. But he continued to work on himself and already won major international tournaments in 2012, including a. in November 2012 at the "Henri Deglane" Challenge in Nice, medals. He suffered a setback at the important "Ivan Yarigin" Grand Prix 2013 in Kraskojarsk, where he only finished 32nd.
In January 2014 he came in this tournament in the weight class behind Aniuar Gedujew on 2nd place and in 2015 he even won this tournament before the American Andrew Howe. Normally, the Russian Wrestling Association sends the winners of the "Iwan Yarigin" Grand Prix to the European Championships. It was not the case with Akhmed Gadschimagomedov, he still had to prove himself further. In 2015 he took 3rd place at the Russian championship in the weight class up to 74 kg behind Aniuar Gedujew and Stanislaw Tschachirow. In 2016 he achieved excellent placings in several international tournaments, but did not get a chance to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro this year.
In January 2017 he again won the "Ivan Yarigin" Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk and was then used in May 2017 at the European Championships in Novi Sad. In Novi Sad he won over Henn Selenius from Finland and Ali Schabanow from Belarus, but lost in the semifinals to Murad Suleimanow from Azerbaijan. In the consolation round he then secured a bronze medal with a victory over Selimchan Chadijew from France.
In January 2018 he again won the "Iwan-Yarigin" Grand Prix, but one weight class higher, up to 79 kg body weight. In May 2018 he won his first title at a major international championship, the European championship in Kaspiisk. He defeated Muhammat Nuri Kotanoglu, Turkey, Johnny Bur, France, Jabrail Hasanow , Azerbaijan and in the final Martin Obst from Germany. At the 2018 World Championships in Budapest, Akhmed Gadschimagomedow won the same weight class over Bakhtiyar Isbassarow, Kazakhstan and Unurbat Purevjav, Mongolia, but lost in the semifinals to Kyle Douglas Dake from the United States, but won another one with a victory over Dawit Chuzishvili from Georgia Secure bronze medal.
In January 2019 he again won the "Ivan Yarigin" Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk, thus setting the course for a successful 2019.
