Adalbert Antonov

Adalbert Antonov Kandow ( Bulgarian Адалберт Кандов Антонов * 10. December 1909 in Lashene , Oblast Pleven , Kingdom of Bulgaria ; † 4. December 1942 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian communist activist . He also used the pseudonym Maltschika (Малчика).

Life

Antonov was born in Lashene ( Лъжене ) in the Levski municipality near Pleven and attended the Swishchev grammar school. He began in 1929 to study veterinary medicine at the University of Sofia , was a member of the Bulgarian Communist Party (BKP) affiliated student association Balgarskijat obscht Naroden Studentski sajus ( Българският общ народен студентски съюз , БОНСС; transliteration : Bonß) and was for political activities of the University referenced. He was imprisoned in 1934 and from 1935 to 1937. In 1941 he became secretary of the Bulgarian Workers' Youth Association Rabotnitscheski mladeshki sajus ( Работнически младежки съюз , РМС; also known as "Remsista", transliteration: RMS ) and was of central importance for the conduct of communist activities in Bulgaria. He was sentenced to death in absentia . In November 1942 he was again arrested on December 4, 1942 shot .

Honors

In 1950 his home village was named after his activist pseudonym in Maltschika. On March 25, 1951 a 1  lev - "anti-fascist" - stamp was issued, on which he together with the RMS members Jordanka Tschankowa ( Йорданка Чанкова ; 1911-1944), Alexander Dimitrov ( Александър Димитров ; 1909-1944) and Liliana ( Лиляна Димитрова ; 1918–1944) is illustrated (edition: 150,000). Streets are named after him in several Bulgarian cities, such as Sofia , Smoljan and Kubrat . The school founded by Maria Beltschewa in Sofia in 1977 was called 34 ESPU "Adalbert Antonow - Maltschika" ( 34 ЕСПУ "Адалберт Антонов - Малчика" ) until 1991 ; since then it has been called 34 OU "Stoju Schischkow" ( 34 ОУ "Стою Шишков" ), named after the writer and museum founder Stoju Schischkow ( Стою Шишков ; 1865–1937).
