Adalbert Endert (born December 22, 1850 in Setzelbach near Rasdorf , Hesse ; † July 20, 1906 in Fulda ) was Bishop of Fulda from 1898 to 1906 .

Life

After the early death of his father, Adalbert Endert grew up with his mother. He graduated from the Knabenkonvikt and then studied in the Fulda seminary .

On April 6, 1873, Bishop Christoph Florentius Kött ordained him a priest . After that, Endert was initially the third city chaplain in Fulda. On July 18, 1898, the Fulda cathedral chapter elected him as the new bishop. He received his episcopal consecration on October 28, 1898, the then bishop of Breslau and former bishop of Fulda, Georg von Kopp .

On February 1, 1906, the Faculty of Theology awarded him the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg , the honorary doctorate .

The heraldic shield divided shows in fields 1 and 4 in silver / white a black bar cross, the coat of arms of the diocese of Fulda ( Fürstabtei Fulda ), in fields 2 and 3 in blue a golden duck in a golden pond.

Behind the shield is the bishop's cross, above it the green galero (bishop's hat ) with the six green tassels (fiocchi) hanging down.

His motto Praedicamus Christum et hunc Crucifixum (We preach Christ as crucified) comes from Paul's first letter to the Corinthians ( 1 Cor 1.23  EU ).
