Adalbert von Roessler , complete Adalbert Heinrich Karl Ludwig Ernst von Rößler (born August 29, 1853 in Wiesbaden , † 1922 in Berlin ) was a German portrait and history painter and illustrator.

Life

Adalbert von Rößler was born as the son of the police director of Wiesbaden, Albert Franz von Rößler (1815–1879), his brothers were the painter Ludwig von Rössler (1842–1910) and the composer Gustav von Roessler (1850–1919).

After attending grammar school in Wiesbaden, he worked as a miner until he was 25 and managed the bleed mines in Nassau that belonged to his father. He then became a painter. He first studied painting from January 14, 1878 in the class of antiquities at the Munich Art Academy , matriculated as Albert von Roeßler. Then he went to the academy in Antwerp, in 1888/89 he was a master student of Anton von Werner at the Berlin academy . After completing his studies, he first settled in Frankfurt, then in Berlin

His works appeared in the magazine " Die Gartenlaube ". He illustrated numerous books.
