Adam Fastnacht (born July 27, 1913 in Sanok , † February 16, 1987 in Wrocław ) was a Polish historian , researcher of the settlement history of the Sanok region and the city of Sanok and long-time curator of the Ossolineum .

Career

Adam Fastnacht came from a family who immigrated during the Josephinian colonization . From 1923 to 1931 he attended the Queen Sophia High School in Sanok . He studied at the University of Lvovsky (now Ivan Franko National University of Lviv ). As early as 1937 to 1939 he was working on his doctoral thesis on the settlement history of the Sanok region. The work, published in 1962, has been recognized by other researchers as the approach to all research in this area to this day.

During the Second World War he served with his brother Marian in the Polish Home Army . After the war he received his doctorate from the Jagiellonian University in Cracow . After that, Shrovetide worked in the Ossolineum in Wrocław (Breslau) and at the University of Wroclaw .
