Adam Huth

Adam Johannes Huth (born March 17, 1696 in Orb ; † September 17, 1771 in Mannheim ) was a German Jesuit , theologian and canon lawyer .

Life

Huth was matriculated on March 16, 1713 at the University of Würzburg . On July 13, 1741, he joined the Jesuit order in Mainz , received his master's degree in philosophy in Würzburg and then devoted himself to studying theology and canon law. From 1726 to 1736 he held a position as a full professor of canon law at the law faculty of Heidelberg University . During this time he was on the one hand on February 8, 1729 Dr. iur. about his doctorate and put the other end on 15 August 1729 his profession from. He was also dean of the law faculty in 1729 and 1733 . He was also chairman of the Heidelberg Jesuit Convict .

During his time in Heidelberg, Huth described Protestants as heretics . Due to a complaint by the Reformed , Elector Karl Philipp issued a decree, according to which the professors required a license to practice medicine from the faculty for their theses.

Huth was at the Jesuit College in Mannheim from 1736 . From December 17, 1747 to 1751 he was rector of the Jesuit college in Würzburg and then from 1752 to 1754 confessor of the Würzburg Prince-Bishop Karl Philipp von Greiffenclau zu Vollrads . From August 15, 1755 he was rector of the college in Mannheim and from October 11, 1758 in Mainz. On November 10, 1761 he was appointed provincial . He held the office until 1764. On March 1, 1768 he returned to Mannheim. His canonical works are said to have been more of practical than of scientific importance.
