Adelaide Ristori (born January 26, 1818 or January 29, 1822 in Cividale del Friuli , Friuli , † 1906 in Turin ) was an Italian actress .

Life

Ristori was the daughter of a couple of actors and performed with her parents as a child. She achieved her first major success around 1835 in the lead role of Francesca da Rimini ( Silvio Pellico ). Around 1840 Ristori joined the ducal ensemble in Parma and had her artistic breakthrough there as Maria Stuart ( Friedrich Schiller ).

In 1847 Ristori married the Marchese Giuliano Capranica del Grillo . With him she had a son: Marquese Giorgio Capranica del Grillo . She paused until 1850 and devoted herself only to her family during these years. From autumn 1850 Ristori went on tour again and competed with her colleague Rachel Felix .

In Paris, Ristori had extraordinary success in the role of Myrrha ( Vittorio Alfieri ) and this success she was able to continue in the theaters of Berlin , London , Dresden and Vienna . In 1857 she performed with similar success in Spain, in 1860 in Holland, and in 1861 in Russia. She achieved one of her greatest successes in the lead role of Medea ( Ernest Legouvé ). Like Legouvés Beatrix, this work was not only translated by Giuseppe Montanelli , it was written specifically for her.

In 1864 she celebrated triumphs in Constantinople, 1867 in the United States, whereupon she visited Central and South America, in the early 1970s Australia and England, and 1879-1880 Germany and Sweden.

Their figures were characterized by deep inwardness and a gripping glow of passion.
