Carl Valdemar Jussi Henry Adler-Olsen (born August 2, 1950 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish author of crime novels . His books have been translated into more than 40 languages ​​with a total circulation of over 23 million copies.

Jussi Adler-Olsen, son of a psychiatrist , initially studied medicine , sociology , political history and film studies and worked in various professions, including managing director of publishing houses, editor and composer . He also worked as coordinator of the Danish peace movement , on the board of DK Technologies A / S in Copenhagen and Solarstocc AG in Kempten .

He achieved his breakthrough in his home country Denmark in 2007 with the novel Kvinden i buret (German title: Mercy ), the first case for Carl Mørck from the special department Q. The German edition made it to number 2 on the Spiegel bestseller list (status: 13 September 2010). Since the appearance of the bestseller Fasandræberne (German desecration ), the second part of the series about Mørck, Adler-Olsen has been the best-selling Danish crime writer. The German hardcover edition made it to the top of the Spiegel bestseller list (as of September 6, 2010).

Adler-Olsen is married and has one grown son. The family lived in Allerød until 2016 and since then in Copenhagen- Valby . In his spare time he likes to renovate old buildings and play his own music.
