Adolf Arnold

Adolf Arnold (born March 20, 1935 in Schweinfurt ; † June 2, 2015 ) was a German geographer and university professor .

Life

Adolf Arnold was born in Schweinfurt and studied geography , German and history in Bayreuth and Berlin from 1954 to 1960 . He completed this course with the state examination. In 1963 he became a research assistant at the Technical University of Hanover . He received his doctorate in 1967 with a thesis on The Main Valley between Haßfurt and Eltmann . He then went on research trips to Tunisia and Algeria to deal with cultural and economic geographic topics of the Maghreb . He completed his habilitation at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the Technical University of Hanover with studies on the economic geography of Tunisia and Eastern Algeria for the subject of geography. In 1980 he became an associate professor for cultural geography .

Arnold was a board member and honorary member of the Geographical Society in Hanover .
