Adolf Böhm (born August 24, 1844 in Waldenburg , Province of Silesia , † after 1891) was a German painter who made a name for himself in interior and landscape painting .

Life

He studied from 1871 to 1873 at the painting school of the Grand Ducal Saxon Art School in Weimar , where he was a student of the realist Karl Gussow . This made it possible for Böhm to exhibit repeatedly at the Royal Prussian Academy of the Arts in Berlin from 1874 onwards .

In 1884 Böhm moved permanently to Venice , where he worked as a freelance artist. However, Germany remained the most important sales market for his works. He created views of Weimar and Venice as well as interiors. In particular, his paintings “The Apollo Gallery in the Louvre” and “Interior of San Marco, Venice” became famous. The latter was loaned to the Thuringian Ministry of Finance by the Weimar Art Collections in 1922 and has disappeared since 1945.
