The World Curling Championships the women's 2,001 (official: Ford World Women's Curling Championship in 2001 ) was the 23rd staging of the World Championships in curling of the ladies. The tournament took place from March 31st to April 8th of that year in Lausanne , Switzerland in the Patinoire de Malley .
The Canadians celebrated their title defense against Sweden and thus the twelfth world title. Scotland had to be content with the thankless fourth place in the game for the bronze medal against the Danes. For the first time a Russian team took part in a women's World Cup.
