The World Curling Championships the women's 1,997 (official: Ford World Women's Curling Championship in 1997 ) was the 19th staging of the World Championships in curling of the ladies. The tournament was held from April 12th to 20th of that year in the Swiss federal city of Bern in the Allmend ice stadium .
For the tenth time, the Canadians were at the top of the podium. For Norway it was only enough for a silver medal. In the game for 3rd place, the Danes prevailed against the Japanese team.
Was played a round-robin tournament ( round-robin ), which means that everyone competes against everyone.
