Adolf Kaschny (born May 30, 1881 in Köberwitz , Ratibor district , † September 16, 1951 in Munich ) was a German politician ( center , CDU ).

Life

Adolf Kaschny studied law and passed the assessor's exam after his traineeship . He then worked as a lawyer and notary in Ratibor from 1908 to 1924 . The Upper Silesian Catholic Kaschny had been a member of the Center Party since 1909. From November 1908 to September 1924 he was a city ​​councilor in Racibórz. In 1924 Kaschny was elected Lord Mayor of Ratibor and remained so until the end of the Weimar Republic in 1933. From 1926 to 1933 Kaschny was a Prussian State Councilor .

In 1934 Kaschny settled in Ratibor as a lawyer. In 1936 the Nazi law enforcement association initiated a court of honor against him, in which he was accused of political unreliability. However, the process remained in vain. Kaschny was known to Hans Lukaschek and Jakob Kaiser , who in turn had contact with the Kreisau Circle and the resistance fighters of July 20, 1944 . The conspirators had designated Kaschny as political sub-commissioner for Upper Silesia in military district VIII ( Breslau ). Kaschny was arrested on the night of July 21, 1944 and was imprisoned in the Ravensbrück concentration camp until February 12, 1945 .

After the Second World War , Kaschny was head of department at the Central Employment Office in Lemgo from 1946 to 1948 . In July 1948 he settled in Detmold as a lawyer and notary . Kaschny joined the CDU in 1946. From October 1948 to 1951 he was a member of the district council in Detmold and from April 1950 to 1951 Detmold city ​​council . In the state elections in 1950, Kaschny was elected to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament as a direct candidate for the CDU in constituency 136 (Wiedenbrück) . He was an MP from July 5, 1950 until his death on September 16, 1951.

In Leverkusen, Adolf-Kaschny-Strasse was named after him in 1968.
