AO Weitzenberg

Adolf Otto Weitzenberg (born October 27, 1882 in Tinnum , † December 7, 1958 in Berlin ) was a German cameraman .

Life

The son of a Sylt bailiff attended the teaching and research institute for photography as well as the Grand Ducal Saxon Art School in Weimar . In 1903 he settled in Hamburg as a photographer .

During the First World War he gained his first experience as a subordinate feature film cameraman. In 1917 he made his debut as head cameraman and initially worked especially for director and producer Rudolf Meinert . In addition to many little-known films, he shot Ludwig Berger's Calderon adaptation The Judge of Zalamea and Martin Berger's abortion drama Crusade of Women .

From 1934 Weitzenberg worked almost exclusively for documentary and educational films. After the end of the war, he joined DEFA .
