Count Adolf V. the Pomeranian (* around 1252 ; † 1308 ) was Count of Holstein-Kiel (1263-1273) and Count of Holstein-Segeberg (1273-1308) from the family of Counts of Schauenburg and Holstein .

Life

He was the older of the two sons of Count Johann I von Holstein and Elisabeth von Sachsen-Wittenberg. When his father died, he was still a minor

In 1273 the country was divided between Adolf V and his brother Johann II on the one hand and their uncle Gerhard I von Holstein-Itzehoe on the other, with Gerhard I securing the county of Schaumburg . Adolf V and Johann II again divided the area of the County of Holstein that had fallen to them . In doing so, Adolf V received an area extending from the Plöner See to the Elbe and extensive lands in the Lower Elbe region northwest of Hamburg . From then on he called himself Count von Holstein and Stormarn in his documents. He took his headquarters on the mightiest castle in the county, the Siegesburg on the Segeberger Kalkberg . In the historiography, his sub-county, which only existed for a short time, is therefore also called the Segeberg part. He died in 1308.

Since Adolf had no son, his brother Johann II the one-eyed and his sons Christoph and Adolf, who perished in 1314 and 1315 respectively, signed an inheritance contract with Gerhard and Heinrich , two sons of Gerhard I von Holstein-Itzehoe, on April 4, 1304 . But after Adolf's death there were inheritance disputes.

Adolf V was married to Euphemia von Pommerellen (approx. 1260-1317), the daughter of Mestwin II .
