Holstein-Itzehoe

Holstein-Itzehoe was a county that was created when the county of Holstein was divided between Gerhard and Johann von Schauenburg and Holstein in 1261 .

Gerhard von Holstein-Itzehoe was the only regent at Itzehoe Castle . After his death in 1290 Holstein-Itzehoe was divided between the sons of Gerhard into the three counties of Holstein-Plön , Holstein-Schauenburg and Holstein-Rendsburg around 1294.
