Holstein-Segeberg
The county of Holstein-Segeberg was a county in Holstein from 1273 to 1308 and a line of the noble family of Schauenburg and Holstein . The only Count of Holstein-Segeberg was Adolf V ( the Pomeranian , * 1252, † 1308).
history
After the death of his father Johann I (1263), his sons Adolf V, Johann II and Albrecht I (* ca. 1255, † 1300) initially ruled the county of Holstein-Kiel together . In 1273 they divided the inheritance, with Johann II continuing to rule Kiel. Albrecht was resigned and provost of Hamburg. Adolf V received the Siegesburg and the area around Segeberg . When he died in 1308 without a male heir, Holstein-Segeberg fell back to Holstein-Kiel. Adolf (* 1281), the younger son of Count Johann II, administered Holstein-Segeberg and was murdered in the Siegesburg in 1315.
Count Albrecht II (* 1369, † 1403) von Holstein-Rendsburg, second son of Count Heinrich II. († 1385), received the Segeberg castle and bailiwick as a separate domain through the partition contract of September 9, 1394; by partition contract of August 28, 1397 Kiel was assigned to him.
