Adolf Weiland (born August 14, 1953 in Rhens ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He has been a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament since 1996 .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1972, Weiland studied political science, German literature and philosophy at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and received his doctorate in 1983. Then he was an advisor to the Rhineland-Palatinate Interior Minister Kurt Böckmann until 1987 and then to the CDU parliamentary group. From 1988 to 1991 he was office manager at Finance Minister Emil Wolfgang Keller and finally until 1996 a consultant at the Ministry of Science. Weiland is married and has three children.

politics

Weiland joined the CDU in 1977. In 1994 he became a member of the district council of the Mayen-Koblenz district and chairman of the CDU district association. From 1995 to 2005 he was deputy chairman of the CDU Rhineland-Palatinate . Since 1996 he has been a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament , in which he represents constituency 12 ( Mayen ). He last won the direct mandate here in 2016 . In the state parliament he is deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group, chairman of the auditing commission. Member of the budget and finance committee and the media, digital infrastructure and network policy committee and the council of elders.

In addition, Weiland was chairman of the CDU district association Koblenz-Montabaur from 2005 to October 2019. His successor in this office was Matthias Lammert . The main focus of his political work are budget, finance and media policy.
