Adolfo Cipriani , also Ada Cipriani , (born September 9, 1857 in Florence , Austrian Empire , † August 10, 1941 ibid, Kingdom of Italy ) was an Italian sculptor .

Life

Adolfo Cipriani was active as a sculptor from around 1880 to 1930. Little is known about his career. He created numerous statues, busts and groups of figures, mostly with portraits of women and children in Art Nouveau style , including often portraits and allegorical figures made of marble or alabaster , sometimes also as nudes. His works, which were often signed A. Cipriani , he also sold in the United States of America .

Adolfo Cipriani was married to Emilia Pancani (* 1860) and they had nine children, including the sculptor Ugo Cipriani .

Works (selection)

Angler, Bad Godesberg

Around 1885 Adolfo Cipriani created the marble sculpture Anglerin , which initially stood in the Villa Stollwerck (Bad Godesberg) and was donated to the city of Bad Godesberg by Mrs. Ringsdorff in the 1920s .

After various other locations, the work of art has been installed in the Redoute park there since 1965 .
