Adriana Spilberg , also Adriana Breekvelt or Adriana (Adrienne) van der Neer (* December 5, 1650 in Amsterdam , † after 1697 in Düsseldorf ), was a Dutch - German painter at the court of Elector Johann Wilhelm von der Pfalz .

Adriana Spilberg was a daughter from the marriage of the court painter Johannes Spilberg and Maria (Marrite) Gerrits. On December 8, 1650, she was baptized in the Amsterdam Oude Kerk . She received training as a painter from her father, who is said to have repeatedly rejected court cases for his daughter's hand with reference to her artistic development. In 1681 the Spilberg family moved the household, which, despite the position of head of the family at the Jülich-Bergischer Hof, had initially remained in Amsterdam, to Düsseldorf. Adriana Spilberg came to the Düsseldorf court, where her painterly work was honored and promoted, in particular by Maria Anna Josepha of Austria , the wife of the Duke of Jülich-Berg and later Elector Johann Wilhelm of the Palatinate. Only in 1684 did the father allow his daughter Adriana to marry the Düsseldorf painter Wilhelm Breekvelt (Brekvelt, Breckvelt, Breckervelt). From this marriage, which lasted only three years until Breekvelt's death in 1687, three sons sprouted. Spilberg then remained a widow for a decade before she married the Dutch painter Eglon van der Neer in 1697 . The marriage with van der Neer, who succeeded his father-in-law Johannes Spilberg in the position of court painter to the Electoral Palatinate and died in 1703, remained childless. The date of death of Adriana van der Neer, who remained an active painter until the end of her life, is unknown.

Spilberg made pastel and chalk drawings as well as oil paintings. She is also said to have worked on her father's frescoes in Düsseldorf Castle - depictions of the deeds of Hercules .
