Adrien Jean Madiol (born September 7, 1845 in Groningen , † February 16, 1927 in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert / Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe ) was a Dutch-Belgian genre painter .
He worked briefly in Groningen in 1866. He then went to Belgium and completed an apprenticeship at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten van Antwerpen with Nicaise de Keyser , and continued his studies at the Académie royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles .
He worked in Antwerp and then in Ixelles / Elsene . In Ixelles he was entered in the population register under the name Madyol.
His subjects were mainly domestic scenes and interiors in the tradition of the Dutch historical genre, as well as portraits.
He knew Vincent van Gogh and may have given him perspective lessons. Van Gogh valued Madiol's work. He even asked his brother Theo to recommend this painter to the Brussels Salon.
