Adschapnyak ( Armenian Աջափնյակ ) is one of the twelve districts in Yerevan , the capital of Armenia .
overview
Located in the northwest of the city center, Ajapnyak borders the Dawtaschen district in the northeast , the Arabkir district in the east, the Kentron district in the southeast and Malatia-Sebastia district in the south . The Hrasdan forms the natural eastern border. Adschapnyak borders the provinces of Armavir and Aragazotn in the west and the province of Kotayk in the north .
With an area of 25 km² (11.21% of the urban area of Yerevan) Adschapnyak is the fourth largest district of Yerevan. Adschapnjak literally means "right bank", which refers to the location on the right bank of the Hrasdan . The district is unofficially divided into smaller quarters: Noraschen, Nasarbekean, Silikjan, Lukashin, Wahagni, Anastassawan and Cheremushki. Geworg-Tschausch-Platz and Halabjanstrasse form the core of the district. Other important roads are Geworg-Tschausch-Strasse, Howhannes-Shiraz-Strasse, Bashindschaghjan-Strasse, Mowses-Silikjan-Strasse and Astrakhan Highway. Leningrad Street separates Adschapnyak from the districts of Kentron and Malatia-Sebastia.
Adschapnyak was added to many parks in the 2010s to be visited by many Yerevan residents. These include Tumanjan Park , Buenos Aires Park and Freedom Fighters Park .
Demographics
At the 2011 census, the district had a population of 108,282 (10.21% of Yerevan's population). In 2015 a population of 108,900 was given. According to official estimates, the population was around 109,100 in 2016 (7th place in the districts of Yerevan).
Adschapnjak is mainly inhabited by Armenians who belong to the Armenian Apostolic Church . However, in 2017 there was no church building within the boundaries of the district.
Culture
In Adschapnjak the 1957 Music School "Michael Mirzoyan" opened in 1971, the art school "Awdej Gabrieljan" , 1983, the cultural center for ethnographic songs and dances "Maratuk" , 1987, the music school "Anahit Zizikjan" , 1995, the aesthetic children education center "Sartonk" and 2001, the aesthetic education center Adschapnyak .
transport
Located on the right bank of the Hrasdan, the district secures its connection with the center of Yerevan through the Great Hrasdan Bridge . Ajapnyak has a public transport network of buses and trolleybuses .
economy
In Adschapnjak there are mainly smaller shopping and service centers as well as a small industrial area in the east of the district, on the border with the Malatia-Sebastia district.
Most of the district's industrial facilities were built in the 2000s. However, the Proschjan Cognac Factory was founded in 1885. Your current plants have been producing in Ajapnyak since 1980. There are many large industrial companies in the district, including the Thermomexwerk for electrical appliances founded in 1987, the Karitaswerk for wood products founded in 1995, the Asawerk for confectionery founded in 1997, the Waterlok Aparan mineral water factory founded in 2000, the Prof Al plant for aluminum products founded in 2002, which was founded in 2003 Biokatfabrik für Milchprodukte, the Profmet Metallrohrwerk founded in 2004, the Mega Shin-WErk for metal-plastic structures founded in 2005, the Elit Schant ice cream factory founded in 2007, the Martin Star food manufacturing company founded in 2007, the Amelia mining company founded in 2008, the Gari Plast- Factory and metal cutting machine Jerfretsfabrik founded in 2016. There are also many other smaller food, clothing, electronics, and building materials plants in the district.
The district is home to the Medical Center of the Republic of Armenia , the largest hospital in Yerevan.
education
In 2016–17 the district had 20 public schools and four private schools, including the prominent QSI International School of Yerevan (opened in 1995). There is also a vocational school in the district.
There are many higher education institutions in the district, including the Yerevan Hajbussak University (opened in 1990) and the Yerevan Agricultural University (opened in 1992).
The Yerevan Physics Institute , founded in 1943, is located in Adschapnyak. In 1993, the Monte Melkonjan Academy of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia was opened in the district. The Tomu Center for Creative Technologies followed in 2011 .
Sports
There are the following sports schools in Ajapnyak:
- Adschapnyak children's and youth sports school, opened in 1968, specializing in handball, basketball, volleyball and chess.
- Armfighting Professional Federation, Mixed Martial Arts Training Center, opened in 2005.
- Ajapnyak chess school, opened in 2013.
The Ararat Golf and Country Club is located in the Wahagni area of the Adschapnyak district.
