Aernout Mik

Aernout Mik (born September 21, 1962 in Groningen ) is a Dutch artist.

Life

Mik studied in his hometown from 1983 to 1988 at the Academie Minerva (part of the Hanzehogeschool Groningen ). In 1987/88 he was a member of De Ateliers '63 in Haarlem . Since 2011 he has held a professorship for sculpture at the Art Academy in Münster . Mik lives in Amsterdam .

Mik is an installation artist , he constructs "environments", accessible room installations, and combines them with video films.

In 1997 and 2007 Mik was represented in the Dutch pavilion at the Venice Biennale . In 2011, an overview of his work was shown in the Museum Folkwang in Essen under the programmatic title “Communitas”. This went to the Musée du Jeu de Paume in Paris and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam in 2012 .
