Rannapungerja (German Ranna-Pungern ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural community of Alutaguse (until 2017 Tudulinna ) in the Estonian district of Ida-Viru (German East Wierland ).

Description and history

Rannapungerja has 29 inhabitants (as of 2011). It is located on the river of the same name , just before it flows into Lake Peipsi ( Peipsi järv ). The village has a small harbor and a lighthouse. It has been recognized as a resort since 1937.

Rannapungerja was first mentioned in 1534 under the name Ranna-Pungern . In the 19th century there was a jug and a post office in the village . The old wooden house from the 18th century was replaced by a new building in 1826. It is no longer preserved. You can still see the wooden guest house from that time, which today serves as a residential building.
