Kamarna is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality of Alutaguse (until 2017 Illuka ). It is located in Ida-Viru County ( East Wierland ) in northeast Estonia .

Description and history

The village has only three inhabitants today (as of 2011).

Kamarna was first mentioned in 1583, but is probably much older. The place name probably comes from the Russian word for mosquito ("Комар"). In the largely untouched moorland of Kamarna, mosquitoes multiply rapidly in the summer months. Numerous wild swans breed in the wetlands.
