Agusalu is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality of Alutaguse (until 2017 Illuka ). It is located in Ida-Viru County ( East Wierland ) in northeast Estonia .

Description and history

The village has 16 inhabitants (as of 2011).

Agusalu was first recorded in 1853. Six years later, 190 people lived in the village.

Agusalu is known to nature lovers because of its extensive moorland. The reserve, which has existed since 1981, with its marshland is 2.7 square kilometers in size. The two lakes Agusalu järv (6.3 hectares) and Väike Agusalu järv (4 hectares) are located in the swampy forest landscape of Agusalu .
