Description and history

The village has 164 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011). It was first mentioned in 1241 in the Liber Census Daniæ as Paccari . The main attraction of the village is a limestone cross from the 18th century next to the manor house.

Good Pagari

The Pagari estate has been occupied since the second half of the 17th century. At that time it belonged to Rittmeister Otto von Delwig. At the end of the 19th century, the estate was one of the largest in Estonia with 20,000 desjatin . From 1748 until the resettlement of the Baltic Germans in 1939, it belonged to the von Stackelberg family .

The wooden mansion dates from the second half of the 19th century. The single-storey building from 1877 is one of the most important examples of late classicism in Estonian mansion architecture . It stood in the middle of a seven-hectare park that had been laid out in the English style . Two avenues led to the manor house.
