Kaatermu is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality of Alutaguse (until 2017 Illuka ). It is located in Ida-Viru County ( East Wierland ) in northeast Estonia .

Description and history

The village has only two residents today (as of 2011).

Kaatermu was first mentioned in a document in 1583. It used to belong to the Pagari estate .

Near Kaatermu are the 6.2 hectare Nurkjärv lake and the 2.1 hectare Puujala lake ( Puujala järv ). The fourteen-kilometer-long Puujala oja stream rises in the latter .
