Agave chazaroi is a plant from the genus of the Agave ( agave ).

description

Agave chazaroi grows solitary and forms runners with a height of up to 80 cm and is up to 145 cm wide. The dark green to yellow colored, broad, stiff, shiny, irregularly arranged leaves are up to 80 cm long and up to 20 cm wide. The red-brown leaf margins are irregularly serrated. The brown end thorn is 3 to 5 cm long.

The year-old, slender, inflorescence is up to 2.5 m high. The numerous, white to cream-colored flowers growing in clusters appear between the leaves and are 20 to 30 mm long.

The elongated capsule fruits are up to 20 mm long.

The flowering period extends from March to April.

Systematics and distribution

Agave chazaroi is common in Mexico in the state of Jalisco in tropical regions at an altitude of 900 m to 1200 m. It is associated with Mammillaria scrippsiana , Stenocereus dumortieri and various types of succulents .

The first description by José Antonio Vázquez García and Oscar Manuel Valencia Pelayo was published in 2007.

Agave chazaroi is a representative of the Marginatae section . It has limited growth in tequila and the surrounding area. It is related to Agave pelona , but there are differences in the flower structure.
