description

Agave difformis forms open rosettes with heights of 70 to 100 cm and 100 to 150 cm wide and forms abundant offshoots. The variably arranged, polymorphic, linear, stiff, striped, green to yellow-green leaves are 50 to 80 cm long and 40 to 60 cm wide. The white to brown, wavy, narrow, horny leaf margins are serrated flexibly. The strong brown to gray terminal spine is 1.5 to 3 cm long.

The year-old, slender, waxy inflorescence is 3 to 5 m high. The flowers are light green, yellow to pink in color. They are 30 to 40 mm long and appear on the upper part of the inflorescence. The flower tube is 2.5 to 3.5 mm long.

The variably shaped, dark brown, three-chambered capsule fruits are 22 to 26 mm long and 12 to 15 mm wide. The black, irregularly shaped seeds are up to 5 mm long and 3 mm wide.

Systematics and distribution

The first description by Alwin Berger was published in 1915.
