Agave papyrocarpa is a plant from the genus of the Agave ( agave ).
description
Vegetative characteristics
Agave papyrocarpa grows with single rosettes . Their initially slightly clawed and rather dull, elongated to elongated, obscure lanceolate, gradually pointed leaves are somewhat concave and occasionally folded lengthways in the upper part. The leaf blade is 75 to 125 inches long and 15 inches wide. The leaf margin is almost straight or concave in young plants. It has peripheral teeth 1 to 4 millimeters long and 10 to 25 millimeters apart. The triangular, straight or differently and unevenly downwardly curved peripheral teeth have a base that is hardly or slightly expanded. Sometimes there are one or a few tiny intervening teeth. The brown, smooth or slightly grainy in the lower part and towards its tip somewhat polished Enddorn is bent slightly usually and occasionally somewhat conical-pfriemlich. Below the middle it is narrowly furrowed. The end pin is 8 to 15 millimeters long and not sloping.
Inflorescences and flowers
The "panicle" inflorescence reaches a length of 4 meters. The few, very loose partial inflorescences are on slender, outwardly curved branches in the upper half of the inflorescence. The flowers are about 40 millimeters long. The tips are 15 millimeters long. Their tepals are light yellow. The conical flower tube has a length of 4 millimeters. The spindle-shaped ovary is 20 millimeters long.
fruit
The spherical-elongated, thin-walled fruits are 2 to 2.5 inches long and 1.5 to 2 inches wide. They are not stalked and only slightly beaked.
Systematics and distribution
Agave papyrocarpa is widespread on the island of Isla de Pinos , which belongs to Cuba .
The first description by William Trelease was published in 1913. The following subspecies are distinguished:
- Agave papyrocarpa subsp. papyrocarpa
- Agave papyrocarpa subsp. macrocarpa A.Álvarez
The first description of Agave papyrocarpa subsp. macrocarpa was made in 1985 by Alberto Álvarez de Zayas . The subspecies differs from Agave papyrocarpa subsp. papyrocarpa due to the less compact partial inflorescences and larger fruits.
