Agim Çavdarbasha
Agim Çavdarbasha (born March 24, 1944 in Peć , Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia , † October 20, 1999 in Pristina , Federal Republic of Yugoslavia ) was a Kosovar Albanian sculptor .
life and work
Agim Çavdarbasha studied at the University of the Arts in Belgrade with Vojislav Vujisić and at the Ljubljana Art Academy with Zdenko Kalin (1911–1990). In 1971 he finished his studies. Since 1970 he has been a member of the Kosovar Academy of Figurative Art . Agim Çavdarbasha accepted a call as professor at the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo .
Statues of Çavdarbasha depicting Ymer Prizreni and Abdyl Frashëri are in the League of Prizren exhibition . During the Kosovo war , they were thrown into Bistrica by Serbian police officers . During the riots in March 2004 , Çavdarbasha's studio in Çagllavica, south of Pristina, was burned down. Today it has been restored and is a private museum.
Çavdarbasha is known for groups of figures, for example Çifti / The Couple (1974–1975), Biseda / The Entertainment (1976) and Loja / The Game (1982). The work Gratë e Prishinës / Women from Prishtina (1997) was exhibited in 2017 as part of documenta 14 in the Museum for Sepulchral Culture in Kassel.
